Yoga for diabetes management is more effective than most people expect — and Kaynath’s experience at Soulz Fitness shows exactly why.
Kaynath Sheikh had been living with diabetes for nearly seven years when she walked into Soulz Fitness. The condition had taken a toll far beyond blood sugar levels — she was dealing with persistent stress and anxiety, pigmentation around her legs, face, and neck, disrupted sleep, weight she couldn’t shift, and a short temper that was affecting her daily life. She needed more than a workout. She needed a structured, holistic approach.
Her trainer at Soulz Fitness designed group classes that combined breathwork with movement. Each session included Anulom-Vilom pranayama to calm the nervous system, followed by strength and flexibility work — Navkasana, Malasana, Veer Bhadrasana, and core exercises like planks and chakki asana. Resistance training with three-kilogram dumbbells was layered in alongside cardio elements such as jumping jacks and on-the-spot hopping. Lifestyle guidance ran alongside the physical practice: two eggs first thing in the morning for protein, a daily 45-minute walk, no eating after 8 PM, and a firm eight hours of sleep.
Kainat trained five days a week for two months. Progress was gradual but real. Her strength and stamina improved, her flexibility returned, and the mental restlessness began to ease. Most notably, her recent blood tests showed remarkable improvements. She stayed consistent throughout, following every suggestion without compromise.
In her own words: ‘As a woman, fitness is not just about looks; it is about feeling strong, independent, and capable in every aspect of life. I have become a better version of myself.’
