“Yoga for neck and shoulder pain is one of the most common reasons women in Pune come to Soulz Fitness — and Umme Kulsum’s eight-month journey shows what consistent practice can achieve.”
Umme Kulsum had been living with persistent neck and shoulder pain that made ordinary tasks — typing at a desk, lifting things at home — genuinely difficult. On top of that, she felt her flexibility and stamina slipping away. It was this combination of physical discomfort and low energy that brought her to Soulz Fitness in Kondhwa, Pune, where she joined group yoga classes three days a week.
Her trainer built a practice tailored specifically to her needs, blending targeted pain-relief work with gradual strength building. Movements like neck rolls, shoulder rotations, thread the needle, and cow face arms addressed the tension she carried in her upper body. Poses such as cat-cow, child’s pose, forward bend, bridge pose, and warrior 1 worked on her overall flexibility and spinal health. Sun salutations were introduced to build stamina, and weight training was woven into the programme to help her regain functional strength.
Progress was steady rather than instant. It took about a month before visible changes began to show — but when they did, the shift was clear. The neck and shoulder pain reduced significantly, her energy levels improved, and she noticed she was feeling less stressed overall. After eight months of consistent practice, Umme moves through her day without the pain that once slowed her down. In her own words: “With consistent practice I have seen positive changes in my well being.”
Her trainer notes that she now approaches all her daily tasks pain free and continues to show up regularly for her practice.
